Happy Thanksgiving-- Free Recipe Card Printables

>> Wednesday, November 23, 2011

For those of you in the U.S., Happy Thanksgiving!  For everyone else, Happy 24th of November!  ;)

I just love Thanksgiving-- I love getting together with my family, enjoying a day off, and most of all, eating good food!  In that spirit, I made some cute printable recipe cards just for you.  These four cards are 3 in x 5 in, so you can attach them to a regular notecard for extra durability.  I used my Thankful kit-- it's perfectly autumnal, don't you think?

So Thankful

>> Thursday, November 17, 2011

Even though I've been whining about missing the summer, the truth is that I really do love fall.  I love getting my sweaters out of their storage box at the top of my closet, I love putting on woolly socks, and I love walking through crunchy leaves.  I think most autumn-lovers will agree: the best thing about the fall is the color.  I can't resist creating a colorful fall kit each year, and this year is no different.  I wanted to do something for one of my favorite holidays, Thanksgiving (I love the food!), but I wanted to keep it neutral enough that you can use it for any occasion.  I'm totally digging on orange and grey lately, so this palette really worked for me.

Here's Thankful-- 20% off at my guest store at The Digichick!

Oh, and we have a winner!  Congrats to Christina G-- and thank you everyone for your comments!  Here's what Christina had to say in comment #5...

Laina, be sure to e-mail me at elisehansen1 at gmail.com so I can send you your code!  Congrats!

On to the story behind this kit!  First, I asked my Creative Team to give me some suggestions for future kits and the amazing Ashlie suggested this palette with grey, light turquoise, and yellow.  I knew I wanted to use the colors right away-- I love how gender-neutral they are, and how they make a really clean looking combination.

The theme idea came from my six-year-old son, Gordon.  Not to brag or anything, but Gord is a charmer.  He is energetic, good-looking, smart, and a natural leader and everyone, including the little girls, are drawn to him.  Lucky for me (for now), he is subscribed to my suggestion that he is WAY too young to be interested in girls and I'm pretty sure that he and his buddies think they have cooties.  This doesn't mean he hasn't noticed, though-- a couple of weeks ago, Gord brought home his school picture.  He pointed to one of the girls in his class and said, "Kenzie is the cutest girl in our class.  But don't worry, Mom-- we're just friends!"  Whew!  ;)  Here's my layout with my little ladies man...

Our fun conversation made the perfect theme-- a fresh, young kit based on liking, crushes, friends-- nothing too romantic or girly.  I kept the patterns very neutral and included some fun school-type elements like a lined paper strip and a number pattern here and there.  There are also lots of doodle lines all around and one little red heart for that extra touch of color.  I hope you like it as much as I do!  :)

My CT and the CT at The Digichick came up with some great crush-themed layouts!  Take a look...

And here are some more with other themes-- AMAZING, aren't they?!

Here's to likes, crushes, friends, and everything else wonderful to scrap!  Speaking of "like"-- we're only 10 likes away from 1000 likes on Facebook!  WOW!!!  :D

Happy DSD & Time Well Spent

>> Wednesday, November 2, 2011

Hello fellow scrappers!  I am so excited to announce my guest shop for November:  I'm back at The Digichick!  I just love those chicks so much-- it has been so fun to hanging out with them again!

In case you didn't know, Saturday is Digital Scrapbooking Day!  I'll be celebrating all weekend with a brand new kit, a new freebie opportunity every day, and a big sale at my ScrapMatters store!  Let's kick this weekend off, shall we?

The girls at The Digichick are doing a Facebook Fan Page Freebie Hop (wow, what a title!) and I'm playing along, too.  Here's how it works:  head over to my FB page, be sure to "like", and you'll get links to my freebie plus a link to the next chick on the list!  We all used the same color palette, so you'll end up with a huge collection of gorgeous goodies.   The freebies will only be up until November 7th, so get crackin'!

First up, I created this brand new kit especially for my guest spot at TDC-- it's called Time Well Spent.  One of my fabulous CT members, Stefanie, requested a kit that has to do with time and how we spend it.  I started with a bright palette inspired by a photo I found on a wedding blog, went a little nuts with the flowers, and here's what I finished with:

Time Well Spent is 30% off for DSD-- what a perfect time to grab it!  I have some amazing layouts from my CT and the amazingly talented girls at TDC, too.  Take a look...

Congrats to the winners of my random Sneak Peek drawing:  the Facebook winner is Sarah and the Blog winner is Heather!  Congratulations ladies!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for details on my SM store sale, plus another freebie opportunity! LIKE!  ;)
